To subfloor or not for Junckers Oak boards

by ChrisW485 » Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:38 pm

I'm just about to start putting down some 22mm Junckers Oak boards and was interested in thoughts re a subfloor.

I'm currently planning to remove the current floorboards (they're pretty ratty), insulate the suspended floor & re-lay.

The Junckers guidance says it can be floated or hidden screwed to joists, so I was wondering which would be considered a 'proper job'? 18mm ply, underlay & float or screw to the joists?

I will be doing the whole downstairs in this stuff, which includes 2 extensions that are concrete slab based. I guess it may be an easier transition from 18mm ply to the concrete than from the old floorboards (the kitchen is half old house, half extension).

Many thanks for any thoughts.

Chris
