What’s this switch on side of chimney breast for? Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Hi Forum,

Does anyone know what the switch in my living room is for ? It’s on the wall next to the chimney breast, I’m guessing it’s got an old electrical fire maybe ?

Even if the switch was marked/has engraved text it does not mean that is what the switch controls.
The only way to discover what a switch controls is to operate the switch and observe what happens, or to follow/trace the cable for the switch.
