Repair damaged chimney breast plaster after removing oak beam

by Kezia » Mon Sep 13, 2021 11:02 am

Hi,

I removed an oak beam mantel above the fireplace in order to decorate. The only way I could see to do this was by prising it off, but in doing so the wall plugs that the brackets were screwed into have ripped out of the wall causing some chunks of plaster to come off.

How do I fix this? Want to put the mantel back on later so not bothered how it looks but needs to be able to take the weight of the oak beam.

Any advice for a complete novice much appreciated.

Hi kezia
Just plaster over the holes, deep one may need two goes due to its size.
