Broken hot air gun

by moo* » Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:07 pm

Heat element has stopped heating after stripping paint off a door. Gun will still heat up but will not reach optimum temperature for removing paint. Can anyone tell me if you can get it repaired if so where? Does anyone know why it has stopped working as there are few instructions or guidelines (Bosch PHG 600-3). (No info on internet) Thanks.

This is a fairly recent model. Had it long? Still under guarantee?

There are usually two (although this one, I think, has 3) heat settings - have you tried all?

Most of these litle beasties are also fitted with a thermal cutout - get it too hot and it won't run at max chat until it's cooled down. Perhaps that's the problem. You don't say if this is a "now" problem or last weeks.

Frankly at £ 30 (ish) retail it's probably cheaper to replace (unless you've got guarantee cover) that spend time / money attempting a repair.

We use a great heat gun from Bosch which is only £18.00. Its delivered the next day if you order early enough and is so much cheaper than chasing round trying to get yours repaired. Click on the link below.
