Problem fitting toilet lever and linkage

by Moraydavid » Wed Sep 15, 2021 11:56 am

Here is my problem.
I have a handle flush toilet which fills and empties from the bottom.
I was trying to fit a new lever and linkage between the toilet handle and lift arm in the siphon unit. I didn't realise that the lift arm would retract into the unit, and now I can't lift it out to hook the new linkage on.
I've tried to gently lever it up with no success, and there's nowhere to grip with pliers.
Does anyone know of a trick to lift it up, or am I going to need to lift the whole cistern off? I think I'll need to get a plumber in but thought I'd try on here first.
Pictures attached hopefully.

Hi moraydavid
You may be lucky if the siphon unit is one of the 2-part ones where you can remove a pin and lift out the bell housing without disconnecting the siphon tube. Failing this you may be able to bend a wire coat hanger to feed up under the bell housing the lift the plunger unit.

Thank you.
I did manage to get under the unit and push the plunger up. Job done. Ta.
