Wiring a twin bulb table lamp

by geoffj » Sat Sep 25, 2021 5:58 pm

I have a ginger jar table lamp with a plastic bulb holder inside the jar and a brass bulb holder on top. It is currently fitted with a single 2 core flex and 2 in line switches, one for each bulb to operate independently. How should I rewire the existing configuration with 3 core earthed flex after fitting a new brass bulb holder with earth connection and would I need a different type of in line switches? Any advice much appreciated.

It will be very hard to get two cables into a lamp holder (One in and one out) so I suggest you connect a cable to your inline switch then to the light, but in the light use connectors to take a cable to each lamp holder. (Just as they are now)
You would need to change the inline switch to one that also has an earth connection.
