Can you trim down wide architrave?

by bwaj » Fri Dec 10, 2021 12:24 pm

I need to replace 45mm-wide architrave on some internal doors dating back to the 1960s.

I can’t find much architrave of that width that I like. Is it possible — or even advisable —to buy wider-than-needed architrave and trim it down without compromising anything?

Hi bwaj
Assuming you have bull nose or bevel architrave yes you can get oversize mouldings and machine the width.
