About 15 months before I bought my house there was a small kitchen extension added. As a result the gas c/h boiler was moved from it's original position to a new external wall. The new brickwork was insulated on the inside with Kingspan sheets and an inner plasterboard stud wall finished off the kitchen interior. The boiler was fitted to this new drywall. The pipework to the boiler including the gas pipe is sandwiched between the kingspan insulation and the inside of the plasterboard. Today, a boiler engineer came to work on a boiler problem but wouldn't do the job because he said the gas pipe was in a cavity behind the plasterboard and that because if there was a leak of gas it would build up in the cavity. He said the gas pipe should be ducted. Is this correct? If so is there any other alternative to a duct?
