Small leaking pipe above front door

by poppy-123 » Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:33 pm

A small pipe above the front door is leaking water. The pipe is about 1" diameter. Can anyone tell me where the water is coming from? And how i can stop it leaking?

Hi poppy-123.
It’s most likely to be an overflow from a water tank. Check the ball valve is not dripping continuously.

Many thanks Stoneyboy,

I have a friend coming round today to have a look. I tried pushing down the ball cock in the toiletso that water flowed through the overflow pipe, but no water came from the pipe outside.

Hi poppy-123,
If there is nothing else adjacent to the pipe on the other side of the wall eg boiler, bath, hot water cylinder then it could be an old redundant pipe. This would only drip occasionally.
It might also be a weep hole for the DPC/cavity lintel above the door, again it would not drip continuously.
Regards S
