Painting over lead paint on Victorian door

by DIY Newbie91 » Fri Dec 17, 2021 10:35 am

I have an old Victorian door with white paint that is likely to contain lead paint.

Can anyone recommend a paint I can use to paint over lead paint? I effectively want to encapsulate it so it is safe. I have googled this and see that there are different options (epoxy, polyurethane) but I really need someone to recommend something I can use, ideally with a link to purchase it? I don't want to buy the wrong type...

Thanks,

DIY Newbie

Hi diynewbie91,
It is difficult to recommend a particular brand of paint however do use oil based paint for both undercoat and top coat. In my experience it is best to avoid one coat paint.
