Water softener issue as it wont let water through All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I have a water softener installed, but it won't let water through it,

When I press the manual regen it will drain down I can see it empty then it will fill up again,

But if I turn on the hot tap I get no water

I have a by pass system so can turn the feed to and from the softener off and the open the bypass and I get full water flow

Anyone able to point me in the right direction

If you had of posted in the correct forum in the first place, someone may have been able to help, but posting in the members area is of little use as hardly anyone comes here.
