Hotpoint Tumble Dryer Intermittent Fault

by Coupler33 » Fri Mar 04, 2022 6:57 pm

I have a vented Hotpoint tumble dryer model number TVFS73BGP. It is 6 years old. A few days ago it suddenly failed to turn on. After investigation (eg fuse checks etc) and a few trials, the dryer now intermittently starts then stops, doesn't start at all, or occasionally starts and runs a full cycle. I have checked the venting, checked the wiring and checked the capacitor. I now suspect the pcb which sits behind the front control dial. Does this seem the most likely source of the problem or could it be something else?

White goods have become more sophisticated over the years, long gone are the days when everything is a quick fix, each brand and type has its own quirks, For example:
No fill on a washing machine, you assume it is not filling because the valve has failed, but it can be the pressure chamber is blocked, so the machine assumes it is already full of water.

With white goods you really need the help of a specialist, NOT an electrician. I would suggest you look for a dedicated UK white goods forum.
