Damp bricks near front door 1930s house

by Southamptondiy » Sat May 21, 2022 10:44 am

I have some damp bricks at the bottom side of my front door, i have attached a couple of pics.
These areas dry out well in warm weather but can appear again with a temperature drop.
No signs of any damp on the inside.
All seems dry under the door, one side spreads across the middle of the wall.
These are the only areas on the house like this.
Does anyone know the cause and remedy?
Thanks

Looks like a spot of penetrating damp to me. The efflorescence below that also indicates this. A masonry cream will help prevent this moisture while remaining breathable. Here are a couple of options.

Thanks for the info will give this a go, do you know if this can be applied whilst the bricks are damp? I would guess so if breathable.
