Annexe Insulation - Solid Ragstone Information, help, tips and advice on cavity walls, ceilings and lofts etc....

Hi,

Around 2 years back I purchased an old approx. 1830's cottage which has an annexe built in the garden, previously used as a BnB. The annexe as I understand was built in the late 70's / early 80's to fit in with the existing cottage it was built using Kentish Ragstone without any cavity.
I have no idea how the annexe was used as a BnB, as in winter the walls are freezing to the touch and it doesn't hold any heat whatsoever. I plan on fitting some insulation as a DIY job, my first thoughts were to install some timber studs along the wall and then installing insulated wall panels.
My question was around damp, I have no issues installing as I have renovated two previous homes, but have no previous knowledge on insulation. Would this make the walls susceptible to dampness in the room / is there another technique which would be a beet approach.

Hi stocks1j,
You will have to stop any warm damp air getting into the insulation by fitting a continuous DPM to walls, floors and if there is no ventilated space above, on the ceiling too.
