Painting over new(ISH) plaster repair

by Shrimp_ » Tue May 31, 2022 7:43 am

I have recently had a plaster repair job completed, and having left it to dry out for a few weeks, applied some Farrow and Ball paint to the surface. Two coats in with a roller and the paint appears to have cracked as it has dried, flaking away from the wall surface.
This is only in a couple of small patches, not the whole area.

I anticipated that the surface might be a bit more porous and need more paint - but what is the advice to get an even finish across this surface?

Thanks in advance for the experience and expertise!

Hi

Did you apply a mist coat to the plaster first? If not then this is probably why the paint is cracking and flaking off.

We have a full project on painting new plaster here for more details: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/p ... laster.htm

Hope this helps

Kind Regards
