the pull string on the shower switch broke.
I assume i need to replace it, but when i unscrewed the removable part of the unit, it only drops down less than 1 cm. The wires from the ceiling feel tight, making it almost impossible to take the unit off, let alone put a new one on.
What should i do? give it a pull?

Hi, I know it sounds an easy job but due to the size of cables used and that it is in a bathroom you need a leckie [part-p registered].
As an aside why where you using the pull switch???it's only there for maintenance isolation not as a daily operation like your light switch!!!
a 45A sw. takes a heavy pull to operate so cord will soon wear out if used for 'functional switching' which it aint meant for, regards SPARX

thanks sparx - i'll take your advice and call in some4one who knows what they're doing!
and you're right, i have been switching it on and off before and after each shower, thought that was what i was meant to do!!!
