I am trying to identify the finish on the bathroom wall and repair my daughter's well meaning attempts to strip the wall of it.
The house is a 1930's semi.
In the attached photo you can see the finish is pink and highly glossy.
Paper is part of it so it is perhaps wall paper that has had a gloss finish.
It was difficult to get off and when it does, chips off to reveal bare plaster beneath. Unfortunately before we could stop her she had removed a considerable amount on one wall and a few large patches elsewhere.
My problem is do I
a) skim the plaster with something else to get a level surface, seal it,
sand the glossy surface to give a key, then decorate over with a suitable bathroom paint.
b) do I seal the plaster with masonry paint, apply something to level it up, sand the glossy surface, then paint over it with a bathroom paint
c) remove the hard surface layer altogether and do a or c. If so, how?
