Remove bathroom sink basin

by Biver » Sun Jun 19, 2022 1:45 pm

I'm trying to replace our bathroom sink basin.
Basin and tap

Unfortunately, the connections from the tap to the hot and cold pipes are inaccessible from underneath the basin as they are above the hole. The screw holding the tap to the basin is also really rusted and I can't get a grip on it to unscrew it and ease the tap off a bit.

I'm a bit of a novice, any suggestions on how to get the basin off? I've undone the grub screw that you can see in the centre bottom of the tap but that doesn't seem to have freed anything up Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi biver,
You will need to undo the nut underneath using either a box spanner or a long socket.
Spray the thread with penetrating oil and you may have to bend the pipe away from the nut.

Thanks, mate. I've ordered an 11mm box spanner, hope I can get it off!
