Hello all,
We had an unnoticed water drip on the newly laid floor. The laminate board has absorbed the water and bulged. Photos below. Now the dilemma is:
Ignore damage, as it wouldn’t be visible. The current living room layout has the sofa placed on top of the damage. This obviously limits where I can put the sofa (unless I don’t care about the damage being visible). Another worry is that the damage leads to more problems (mould, rotten laminate, other things I’m oblivious about).
Repair damage. Laminate flooring is built like a “one-way” puzzle. This means unless I undo the full room, I’ll never get the damaged bits to “click out” or the replacement bits back in.
This leaves me with a common repair I’ve found online. Carefully cut the damaged laminate bits out; then remove the “click-in” edges of the new replacement laminate bits and glue them back in position. My worry is that the replacement bits might not look flush against other pieces, especially over time (due to expansion / contraction cycles by temperature changes) as only glue will hold it in place.
Any experts that could shine some light on what’s the best option? Is there another option I’m not aware of?
Many thanks.
