Plasterboard/CLS/Insulation dimensions - Head Spinning!

by Shawnobi » Thu Aug 11, 2022 3:01 pm

Hi, I seem to be going around in circles with something that should be quite simple and I can't seem to resolve it.

I'm building a room in a room. Ignoring the tapered roof section I'm building the 4 stud walls first with 38x89mm CLS.
2 walls are 1800mm high and 3600mm wide
2 walls are 1800mm high and 2400mm wide

Where I'm coming unstuck is with the plasterboard and insulation.
The insulation seems to come in a width of 1140mm which can be cut down to 2x570mm or 3x380mm wide. (Knauf 100mm thick)

But if I space my CLS uprights for the insulation they are in the wrong distance for the plasterboard joins as the 1800mm high Pboard is 900mm wide.

Hoping someone can point the error of my ways as I must be doing something wrong here. Thanks

Hi shawnobi
Space the studwork to suit the plasterboard width and cut the insulation to fit the gaps.
