Hi.

I will be installing sliding wardrobe doors which the weight will be on the floor apart from some weight to the upper section keeping them upright. The weight to each door is around 15kg X 3 (only 1.5 meters wide overall) . Is it safe to attach the 3by2 frame to the ceiling to the ceiling using toggle bolts since I will secure the post either on top of each upright 3by2 post on either side or I will use some right angled metal brackets. thanks any one in advance. ps I would go into the loft IF the doors were upper track weight bearing for sure.

Hi almonds,
The sliding doors are very likely to be top hung, you will need to fit noggings in the loft and to use packers when you fit the upper track so that it is straight.

Hi, thanks for that info but they are def not top hung, wheels at the top and pushed upwards with springs just to keep in the track and wheels at the bottom where all the weight is on the ground :). The only force is sideways from basically falling forwards/backwards .I have seen the mechanism . So do you still think the method you described is really needed?

Hi almonds,
If the top track is not load bearing fix your top frame onto the ceiling and use a grab adhesive in addition to your toggle bolts. Score the ceiling above the frame so you get a good adhesion.
