UPVC door dropped and wide gap at top

by Rob955 » Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:03 am

Our exterior door appears to have dropped so that the gap at the top is wider on the left (lock side) than the right (hinge side). This means that it's very difficult to lock the door. To lock the door you have to lift the door very firmly whilst lifting the door handle. Just wondering how to rectify this. There are allen keys on top of the butt hinges and small ones on the front of the hinges. Which way should I turn the Allen keys to raise the door hinges and door?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi rob955,
You may find there are Allen key grub screws in the top and bottom of the hinge pin. Slaken the smaller ones and the top ones then adjust the bottom ones - probably turn anti-clockwise when you look at the end. Do not turn the bottom ones any more than you loosened the top ones - loosen one, tighten one the other end or visa versa.
