Pinhole leak from Showermate shower pump

by dudeless » Fri Sep 23, 2022 4:35 pm

I have a Showermate 1.4bar positive-head twin shower pump that's been working brilliantly until recently, when I've discovered a tiny leak at the hot water end. I can't tell exactly where it's coming from, because the very fine jet of water hits other parts and turns unto a spray. It looks like all the hoses, connectors and collets are ok, so the water would be coming from the main body, somewhere in the gap between the impellor and the main motor. The thing I can't qute get my head around is that it only happens when I'm running cold water, (adding hot in with the mixer tap seems to stop the leak,) but the leak is definitely at the hot water impellor, not the cold. The unit is under the bath, protected from any knocks etc, so I doubt if it's a cracked casing, but...Any ideas, anyone?

Hi dudeless,
Sounds like the seal on the impeller on the hot side is failing, this would show symptoms as you describe when there is zero hot flow through the pump.
You could phone Stuart Turner and see if they have a service kit for replacing the hot side but I think you will find the pump is not repairable.
Regards S
