Damp bottom of walls in terraced house

by DawnMids » Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:55 am

Hi there is a issue of damp on the bottom of a wall in a mid terraced. The walk way / entry way is behind this wall. I asked for recommendations on a community forum on fb for companies who deal in rising damp. Someone said rising damp is no such thing?

Any suggestions what I can do about this. As it’s definitely coming from outside . It’s all along a wall

Hi dawnmids,
Have a look for a damp-proof course (DPC) in your outer wall, the walkway should be about 15cm below this.
Rising damp happens when the DPC has failed so yes it does exist.
