Hi,
I was attempting to isolate the hot taps in the bathroom. There is a pipe running along the floor that is connected by a T joint to the pipe coming out of the top of the hot water cylinder and is heading in the direction to the taps so I turned the isolation valve a couple of turns and was then told to leave it vertical to the pipe to leave it in the off position .
However it didn't stop the water coming out of the taps. I don't happen to remember if the valve was closed or open before I messed with it (total newbie). However the valve is now leaking in both open and closed position, when open the hot water to all taps is only lukewarm.
Should I leave this valve closed or open? I don't want to invertedly cause something to break. And why would there be a cold water feed going into a T joint that connects to the hot water distribution pipe?
I've added some images to try and give a better idea.
Any advice will be much appreciated
