Gap in windows - what is this part called?

by Hamodi » Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:27 am

Hello all, recently moved into a house and there’s lots of cleaning and DIY to do.

I noticed some of the window frames have a gap in one corner when closed. Initially thought could be down to bad hinges but then I noticed the windows with the gap all have this corner piece either missing or broken.

Does anyone know what this part is called and/or where I can source replacements?

Many thanks!

Hi hamodi,
Your initial thought was correct, the hinges are worn. The part you have circled is an integral part of the hinge so replacing the hinges is your only option.
