Help identifying silver pipe is just after the mains shutoff tap

Anyone know what the silver pipe is just after the mains shutoff tap? It's about 5/6inches long.

We seem to have low water pressure recently and I'm not sure why. Wondering what this thing is and whether it might have anything to do I with it.

House is 2014 build and this has been in the property from day 1.

Thanks

Hi spacebug,
It’s probably a magnetic scale inhibitor, suggest you replace it with a new one.
