Domestic water supply to taps

by PANDY80 » Sun Jul 30, 2023 11:51 am

A friend with plumbing experience helped in installing new parts to an existing system. New stoage tank, new CH header tank, new hoy water cylinder and some rads.
Now the hot water to taps is poor and hot water doesn't last.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi pandy80,
Assuming the installation has been done correctly:
It depends what you mean by “hot water to taps is poor”. If you are saying the flow is poor then you should check for airlocks.
Hot water not lasting may be due to the position or setting of the hot cylinder thermostat.

Thank you for this. Flow to taps is o.k. Water just won't heat to previous temperatures with the cylinder thermostat reset to above pre-set and boiler setting upped to a mark on dial of 3 whereas at this time of year it is 1 (no CH on).

Hi pandy80,
Assuming you have an indirect HWC is the tank stat fitted below the return pipe level? Have you checked the tank stat turns on and off? What temp is the tank stat set at? When the system is on are both primary flow and return pipes hot going into the HWC. If you have a motorised valve is this working correctly?
