Ringmain cables under insulation

by ASom » Sat Sep 02, 2023 8:18 pm

Hi there
Im doing a renovation in a semi detached house and Ive got cables running across the 5 panel bay window.
Im going to also put 6.5cm thick plasterboard insulation but am I right in thinking that having the cables underneath is not really right?
Am thinking to cut the plasterboard so that it covers top and bottom of brick but not cable. So cable will end up only being covered by plaster.
Would this work
Pics - just copy and paste to a browser
Thanks

I am not sure, if the cable can be run there, it would be OK on a flat wall as you have one socket on the wall, but not sure if within the permitted zones on a curved wall.

If I was doing it I would use a thicker cable for that run to insure the cable is within the 20 amp requirement for that cable when run in insulation, I use batt cables web page to look at cable ratings, we are fine with installation method 100, but with 101 we are down to 17 amp, so you need to decide which installation method is being used.
