Outside Bathroom drainpipe leak

by Mrs H » Sat Sep 16, 2023 10:08 am

Hi, I am after some advice about how best to fix what seems to be a leaking pipe outside that is the bathroom waste?
It is probably quite old, and I guess the seal has gone as it connects to the underground waste. A plumber had applied some marine sealant, but it doesn't seem to have held.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance

Hi mrs h,
Without details of the pipe materials involved it is difficult to advise. If the pipes are plastic then fitting a new join where the leak is should be carried out. If the pipes are cast iron the only reliable action would be to replace the leaking section with plastic. If the pipes are a mix of cast iron and plastic and the leak is where the pipes change it may be necessary to instal a fitting designed to accept the two different diameters.
