Hello! I'm new to the forum, as well as to homeownership and DIY!
Some context: I've recently bought a Victorian mid-terrace home. It's a lovely home, but has been lived in by an elderly woman for 50+ years, with limited investment made into the property. So there's a lot of work that needs to happen to make it fully live-able (plastering, re-wiring, new flooring, addressing damp with new damp proof course, some structural cracking, etc)
I'm planning some bigger work (side return extension, loft conversion, and some internal changes like turning the ground floor WC into full bathroom) to the house after about 6 months to a year of living there. But now I'd like to figure out the order I should do things in, especially considering the future plans.
I have a few questions that I'd love some steer on before getting started!
1. If I do a new damp proof course now, will I have to do it again for any new internal walls that are built in the future? or should I wait until the internal works are finished to do damp proof course? Should this be before or after we replaster the walls?
2. If the house needs re-wiring eventually, should that be done ahead of re-plastering the walls? Or does it not matter?
