Loud rasping sound through double glazing in wind

by fair21comic » Wed Jan 31, 2024 1:28 am

When the wind is moderate to strong, a loud rasping noise comes from my double glazing unit. See video here: https://streamable.com/90l9k5.

I have checked and there are definitely gaps between the window and frame since I peeled back the plastic covering, but nothing is obviously vibrating, and I heard it long before then anyway. Is it possible it's something inside the unit itself?

Hi fair21comic,
Most likely source is the rubber seal at the back of the window - the one fitted to the frame. Adjustment of the hinges may solve the problem. You can check by pulling the window inwards to see if this stops the noise but you will need some sort of sucker to carry this out.
