Im wanting to fit a drive way gate which im fine with doing but the only concern I have is the water cut off which is located right next to where i want to dig and place one of the posts. I understand that utilities are generally at least 600mm beneath the drive surface and that the post needs to be at least 2ft down (5ft above ground). Do you think this will be a problem and if so can you think of any good contingency plan (thought about using a post sleeve and bolting this to the drive but not sure it will take the weight of the post and gate as the drive covering is no more than 2 inches)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi wanna72.
Given the location of the mains stopcock it is very likely that the post will be on top of the water pipe. Suggest you go for a single gate hung on a post on the right in your photo and stick with a post bolted to the building on the other side.
