Oiled wood mistake.

by sydh » Tue Apr 02, 2024 3:53 pm

I have just oiled my garden furniture by sanding it down and applying the oil. After further reading it appears that oiling can promote mildew and it also needs oiling twice a year, so big mistake.
If I leave the furniture to weather for one year, will it then be ok to sand it and then apply a different treatment and if so, what?

Hi sydh,
Probably best to stick with oiling in the spring, if you try a different coating it may not adhere.
