How to Fix Plastic Track to Brick Wall for Heavy Curtains

by Autistic Trying » Sat May 04, 2024 1:34 pm

Hello,

I am new here.

I am a bit scared as I'm autistic with mild learning difficulties so my question might be really stupid, but I hope people will be understanding. Thanks.

My friend is going to help me put up a track for heavy, tape top curtains into a brick wall (the indoors side of the wall).

I'm scared the curtains will just pull the track straight out of the wall as the curtains are heavy.

I read guides on this website, so I think I understand what is needed, but would be really grateful for any advice.

So my questions are:

Do I need rawlplugs?

Do I need masonry drill bits?

How far into the wall is it recommended that screws for brackets go, to keep them secure for the weight of the curtains?

I'd be really grateful for any advice.

Thank you.

P.S. I'm dyslexic so apologies for any typos.

Hi autistic trying,
Yes you will need wall plugs and a masonry drill probably both 6mm.
Drill into the wall, the first bit will be easy so this will be the depth of the plaster, you will then need to drill a further 25-30mm into the bricks. When you remove the drill you will then be able to size the screws - bracket depth + plaster depth + 25mm. Put a plugs into the hole and drive it in so it’s in the brickwork, then fit the screws.
Regards S
