Gap under skirting in conservatory

by jemima123 » Sat Jun 22, 2024 12:50 pm

Hello

We recently moved into an 80s house which has a conservatory from the 2000s. It was clean when we moved in a few weeks ago but is now filled with insects, we assume due to the gap under the skirting (see photo). Is there some sort of sealant we could use and is that the best solution? Thank you.

Hi jemima123,
It looks.ike you have gaps both above and below the skirting. Your first move is to spray creepy crawly killer in both gaps all along the boards. Stick masking tape on the floor and on the front of the skirting so only the gap is showing and then apply brown silicone sealant, smooth is back to flush with the skirting and remove the masking tape before the silicone sets.
Regards S
