Installing a toilet on a sloping floor

by Lawrence » Sat Oct 13, 2007 8:18 pm

I'm in the process of installing a close coupled WC. The floor is not at 90 degrees to the wall so the top of the cistern sits out fom the wall by about 20mm.

Should this have any impact on the working of the toilet? I'm having problems with leaks from the pan connector and from the rubber seal between the cistern and pan.

You have answered you own question Lawrence. It makes the world of difference in they are not level and at 90 degrees to each other. If you can use another pan connector and move the loo into the rom a little you can then box out behind the cistern. Getting a seal otherwse is impossible.

thanks thedoctor.....the toilet and cistern are at 90 degrees to each other, it's just that the floor is at more than 90 degrees to the wall. I think the problem with the cistern may be a rubbish 'doughnut' not making a good seal. I'll try a flexible pan connector as well.

If the pan sits at more than 90 degrees to the wall, will a good pan connector prevent water running back and leaking after a flush?

thanks for your advice
