Concrete steps against brick

by ajsm » Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:21 am

Rebuilding front steps on 1940s house. Have demolished old porch and laid sub-base (see pic).

Question is what (if anything) should be put between brick foundations and the concrete? Membrane/barrier or more trouble than is worth?

Hi ajsm,
If you are going to form the new step with its top surface below the DPC level do not use anything in the join. The only problem will be that you will have a 480mm+ step to get over the door threshold.
Regards S
