building garage on a slope- How??

by beetlezeb » Sun Oct 14, 2007 12:50 am

We're planning to build a 6 metre by 7 metre wooden garage at the top of our garden but the ground slopes down towards the house, it's 80 cm higher at the top end than the bottom end. How do we sort this? Do we dig down 80cm to get level then build a retaining wall at the higher end? Any advice greatly appreciated!

if access is from lower part you will have to dig in and build retaining wall around garage area (you will always have problems with water ingress to your garage at base level unless drainage channels are laid) if access is from high end ,build wall and fill in to erect garage,no problem.
