Filling where new ceiling plasterboard meets existing wall

by rharwin » Thu Nov 07, 2024 11:59 am

Hi. I am a keen DIYer and looking at learning new skills - would really appreciate your expertise.

Am overboarding some artex ceiling in the bedroom. Where the plasterboard meets the wall with little or no gap can I just use caulk. If the gaps are larger where wall not square should I use filler with paper tape though it will mean having to re-paint some of existing wall?
Thanks so much for your advice.

Hi rhardwin,
Using caulk or paper jointing tape may lead to cracks forming in the corner join.
Either use self adhesive fibreglass scrim tape and blend down the wall with a thin coat of plaster or fit plasterboard type coving.
