Plasterboards on OSB

by wonkus » Sun Dec 01, 2024 7:41 pm

Im building my home with air tight, breathable walls and roof, so the inside of my external walls is OSB sealed with air tightness tape on studs 600mm apart. Is it OK to space the battens for the plasterboard 600mm apart too? And in places where no service void is needed behind the plasterboard, can I attach straight to the OSB (to save a little space and cash)? If so how is best - screws through to the stud work or is there a recommended adhesive for plasterboard on OSB?
Thanks.

Hi wonkus,
Definitely fix your battens in the same position as the studs.
Using screws to direct fix plasterboard onto the OSB may lead to spot cold bridging. Suggest you use sticky foam instead.
