Rain Water Downpipe and Floplast Bottle Gully Connect

by KingShaves » Sun Jan 19, 2025 1:16 pm

Hi there. I'm after some advice on how I could improve the drainage (see the image attached). It's more about the finished look than anything else. Pebbles/stones will fill the gap between the house and paving at some point. I have two drains, the downpipes collect rainwater, both drain covers are below surface level therefore not for surface water. Can I somehow run the downpipes lower and buy some sort of connector - connect downpipe to the floplast bottle gully directly?

Hi kingshaves,
I think the floplast bottle gulley comes in two parts - the bottle trap itself and a push in grid funnel. If this is correct you could remove the grid funnel fit a 110mm to 68mm adaptor and extend you downpipe to suit. This would allow you to fill around the downpipe with pebbles/stones. The issue is that leaves and debris will collect in the bottle trap and it won’t be easy to clear it.
Better to remove the grid funnel, extend the 110mm pipe and refit the grid funnel so the top is level with the path. This way any leaves will collect on the grid and blow away but do use a rainwater shoe at the bottom of the downpipes.
Regards S
