Max wattage on lighting circuit

by jmcenhill » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:08 am

I have just fitted a spotlight track. It has 200w worth of bulbs in, where the old one, which was low voltage, had 80w. Is there any chance I could overload the lighting ring. The other bulbs on the ring add up to 700w, and there are 2 extractor fans as well.

Cheers for help.

YOUR LIGHTING CIRCUIT IF ON A 6 AMP MCB , USING
230 V AS MAINS VOLTAGE WOULD ALLOW 1380 WATTS OF LIGHTING.
YOUR SPOTLIGHT TRACK WILL HAVE A MAXIMUM RATING ON IT ,
SO AS U HAVE PUT 200 WATT OF LAMPS INTO IT , IF THAT EQUALS
MAXIMUM RATING THEN U HAVE NOT EXCEEDED IT.
YOUR FANS DON T MAKE A GREAT DIFFERENCE TO THE TOTAL LOAD.
