Hi

One question I missed is on tiles like Ludlow Major interlocking or Redland 49's the soaker is laid on top of the tiles abutting a wall. Is there any reason why instead of forming the soaker from one long length of lead covering many tiles can it be done per tile ie to the tile length plus the top 'hook over' or using lead clips to secure and an over apron to cover upstands.?

Hi Greengrass. No forum posting appears immediately they all have to go through a moderator first to make sure they are safe and without abusive language etc,,,, Soakers are laid on top of the bottom tile then the next tile laps over the soaker and so on up the roof. The soaker is turned up against an abutment by about 3 or 4 inches which then allows a flashing to be put into a wall chase and turned down over the soiaker upstands. This is considerably easier than dressing a long length of lead, stops penetration fron rain driving sideways and allows greater flexibility when lead and tile move in varying weather conditions.
