banging in pipe to newly fitted inlet and float arm in loo All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Can anyone assist? I've replaced the old ball-cock float in my push-button loo with a new TorVek quiet fill as the former wasn't shutting off properly. However, after filling the cistern and having a short pause when no more water appears to be coming in, water starts leaking into the pan which causes the level to drop and the inlet to switch on again. This is accompanied by the most dreadful loud banging sound in the inlet pipe.

Is the problem in the main syphon part of the toilet fitting? i.e. not sealing thus letting water through which conitually requires topping up and thus causes vibrations in the pipe?

Thanks for the reply...should have said I'd already checked out the sugggestions offered as they had appeared in an earlier link. However, what I don't want to do is uncouple the cistern if I'm going off in the wrong direction. The water level is well down and I know the inlet stops as I can't hear anything (even with ear to pipe!). I'm happy to have a go at uncoupling the syphon and checking the seal but would that create the banging in the inlet pipe? Is uncoupling a difficult job for me on my own (i.e. very heavy?).

is this a modern type of toilet with a built in overflow,you mentioned push button this would normally be used on a modern type of toilet with a dump valve system rather than a syphon type wich is were a float ball would come into it
