cylinder tank

by cosmic-plumber » Fri Oct 19, 2007 10:10 pm

greetings gents and ladies.
i hope you may be able to help.
i have a standard copper cylinder water tank in my airing cuboard which is full of air. this in turn is forcing my hot water to go out though the expansion tank in the loft and down the side of the house.
my question is how i can get the air out of the tank without too much trouble?
thank you c-p

you could drain the system and refill or go to the top of the tank and try opening the flange nut on the top this may release the air
can i ask if the tank as air in it surely this would stop the water from rising to the cold water tank?
perhaps you have a blockage in the hot discharge pipe so water as no option but to go up the vent pipe

thanks bob. i looked at unding the nuts but decided to get a new system as the exixting is ancient and covered in limescale. and to be quite honest i was scared to undo anything incase it all fell apart on me..
but thanks anyway. c-b
