I intend replacing the ceiling light in our bathroom. The fitting is in zone 3. The light I would really like to put up is not strictly a bathroom light. However, it is a low-voltage fitting using 6 x 20 watt max G4 12v bulbs. Does the fact that it operates on a reduced voltage mean that it will conform with IEE regs for use in zone 3. I have yet to check the IP rating in store as it was not stated on the web.

After doing some digging I have discovered that Zone 3 does not require an IP rated light fitting - so anything goes effectively (within the bounds of part P regulation and common sense). I have opted to fit a low voltage 6 bulb modern looking light to give the bathroom a bit more sparkle yet erring on the side of safety. SAY NO TO BORING EXPENSIVE BATHROOM LIGHTING!!
