I am converting a box room into a new bathroom, which has been ok'd by my building regs lady. I will be fitting new safety electrics for a whirlpool bath, LED mist free mirror, and dual heated (plumbed and electric element) towel rad. Will the new B. regs apply with regards to getting the job signed off by a qualified electrician? This is an existing room in my existing house,(not my new extension)And what, if any, guidlines should I be following for this job please. Thanks in advance Andymancan

Hi andymancan,
The regulation is Part P that would be your main concern regarding the electrical installation. I don't know how experienced you are with electrical installation. I'd recomend you get a Part P quailfied sparky in, it's a legal document.
I believe you can put what's called a "notification order" in to the council and do the work yourself. They will check first/second fix and testing. They do charge for this!
The guildlines mainly concern the installation of Protective conductors, earth/cross bonding, RCDs. Correct application to Zones.

Blg Control cannot give you the certificates that a Part P electrician can. Also thePart P qualified sparks should not be signing off someone eses work. He can only give a cert for his own work or someone working under his direct supevision.

And athough your question was specifically related to electrics:

Don't forget that you'll also need to comply with blg regs in relation to notches and holes in joists for pipework and cabling.

Also, you've water regs to consider in relation to your plumbing.
