Multiple spotlight installation

by mauler » Sun Oct 28, 2007 12:25 pm

Hi,

I am changing a strip light in my kitchen for 10X 50W GU10 Halogen downlights in a drop ceiling.

I assume I need to use a junction box in order to connect them all to the one set of wires coming out of the ceiling but I am unsure what I need to buy.

Can anyone help please.

Thanks

Hi mauler,
A couple of things to be considered, is it already being supplied by a junction box or is it on a loop? Down lights are fitted in series and are connected together running cables from one to the next and so on. If the current supply to light fitting is via a juntion box it's easy but not standard procedure anymore. If Loop in, a little more complicated.
But as this work is being done in Kitchen it will come under Part P of building regs and needs to be done by Part P qualified sparky.
Kind Regards and best of luck

I am sure your registered 'Part-p' leckie will know as doing this work in a kitchen is a building regs,'controlled service' and not legal DIY unless fees paid first to LABC,
see project partp on here,BW SPARX
