Hi All

Never posted before so hear goes. Recently moved into a 1950's house where the heating is run of a back boiler which works perfectly well so not thinking about replacing. However at the front is a really ugly gas fire (which we never use) and brick hearth. We have just decorated the room and it now sticks out like a sore thumb. I have thought about disguising it with a purpose built well ventilated wooden cupboard. What do people think? Has anybody done this before? If so your ideas and suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi Lilly,
Have you considered removing the fire and capping off the pipe and terminating the power supply? Then you could make a feature of the fireplace it's self.
Rather than having a gas fire tucked away behind a cupboard, that may one day become a potential hazard.

please get a CORGI Engineer out to do what Kbrownnie suggests coz you don't want to have your new house going up in smoke!! coz of a gas leak!!
